Hi. I have been working on my youngest child's room, Little A, for some time now. She had been in a toddler bed until about two months ago as we had been on the lookout for a twin size bed that suited her (ahem....or me) Well, I finally found THE bed. Well, actually two beds. Mr. Wonderful, Little O, Little A and myself had been scouring yard sales, antique shops and thrift stores, just about everywhere with no luck. Then one wonderful Sunday I remembered Craigslist. Duh... As soon a I opened up Craigslist, there she was in all of her glory! This lovely family had a bunk bed that came apart into two separate twin size beds and they only wanted $100 for it. Score!!!

Little O, my oldest daughter had a Target bed that Mr. Wonderful found at a yard sale for $20 about two years ago. It's been a great bed but it had started to break so she was next on our list. Now both girls have new beds. Yay!

When we picked the beds up, they were an antique yellow, and not my style. See the before on the right.

I had been wanting to try Annie Sloan chalk paint for a while now so I hit up my favorite search engine, google, and found a store 20 minutes from me that carried the paint. I purchased Old White, Pure White and the Clear Soft wax, along with this wonderful brush.

I wanted a creamy white but not bright white. Pure white is very" knock your socks off" white and the old white has yellow in it. So by mixing the two paints equally I achieved the color I was hoping for. Yay! How often does that happen? Achieving your color at the first attempt. #superexcitedIdidn'thavetospendmoremoney

I painted three coats of paint on each piece and then applied 2 coats of soft wax very thinly with a day of drying between each coat. I also used the same brush to do both jobs and might I add, this brush is amazing. But please pay no attention to how terribly I "cleaned" my brush for this picture. Don't be bad like me. Clean your brush well and it will last through many a painting jobs. Without further ado, here is the finished job.

Here is Little O's new bed. Her room is also undergoing a transformation from little girl to tween. (sniff, sniff) More pictures of that coming up.

And just to keep it real, here is what Little A's bedroom usually looks like.

What have you been working on?

New Beginnings!

Hi and welcome to my blog. I am an avid DIY'er and love doing projects around my home with the help of my wonderful hubs and our two little ladies. I am also a procrastinator. My family has been asking for pictures of all of my conquests forever. So I figured I should start a blog to show them all of my painting, crafting and general DIYing. I hope you find my blog fun and maybe get inspired to get your craft on.
Hugs
